Which Soft Shadow Method Should I Use

Hi I’m currently upgrading my light engine and would appreciate if someone had some wisdom to share in the field of soft shadows. I’m using DX10 and deferred rendering but the shadows can be generated in a forward process if beneficial. The shadows don’t need to be physically accurate as long as they look sufficiently good. Which method would you advise me to use? Thanks
