SDK update hell

Recommended Posts

Hi all, well I thought I would update my current version of DirectX SDK I was using some thing before the oct2006 SDK and updated to the April 2007 SDK and now I can't run any thing. so I went back to the one I had and I still doesn't work any more it gives me this Unhandled exception at 0x004ebe55 in Four.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000. and breaks out to this line of code, hr = Window.Device->SetViewport(&ViewPort); but this is a valid device no errors are returned in the creation of it at least it worked before the update all for a UI damn it. any Idead on how to fix it would be good.

Did you uninstall the previously installed version, before installing the new one?
Installing things on top of each other is never good.

yes I did uninstall it, May have fixed it well the problem is gone all I did was
put the
WM_PAINT: // This message is sent to the WndProc when the window needs to be repainted.
{
ValidateRect( hwnd, 0 );

}break;

in the win message pumb and the device was ok and there was no errors is this the problem or is it just waiting for me later mmmmmm or is it just the 4 smirnoff's I just had ????
