"Rotating" Point Sprites

Is there a way to manipulate the orientation of a texture drawn via the GL_ARB_point_sprite extension? I presently use a glTexEnvf (GL_COORD_REPLACE_ARB -> GL_TRUE) call to generate texture coordinates for the sprite. I have tried switching to the texture matrix mode, and calling glRotate but doesn't seem to have any effect. Is this a known limitation to the API, or have I missed something?

point sprites have a lot of limitations (thus usually ppl dont use them)
perhaps u can try


glMatrixMode( GL_TEXTURE_MATIRX );
glPushMatrix();
glRoatetf( ... );
draw sprite
glPopMatrix();
