Force Pull was more fun for me. I would jump over a storm trooper, force-pull him when I was directly overhead, and watch him fly so far into the air he bounced off the skybox.
But as far as good, unique weapons, you can't beat the mad cows, banana bombs, exploding sheep, old ladies, and the concrete donkey from he Worms games.
The Unique Weapons Brainstorm for Action Games

Melee weapons of opportunity. Nothing like chopping of a dude's arm in Rune, then beating him to death with it.
Hahaha, you are so right. I loved that game. The greatest was to play arena games and make the other guy throw all his weapons at you, or take his arm, so you could chase him down slowly.
Force powers are whats up, they're basically awesome in any game.
Expanding on your quicksand idea, how about a grenade that when throw opens up a whole on a surface (body, wall, floor). You could use it for defense (run into a dead end run through a wall), offense (throw it beneth another player), plain ol fraggin (throw it at a player).

1.) Bouncing Betties - This WW2 era landmine explodes when stepped on, but popular culture says leaving your foot on the detonator (if you're lucky enough to hear it click) will save you until someone can disarm it, so long as you don't move an inch.
It would be damn funny to set one of these up, watch someone stand on it, hear the click, followed by the pathetic call for help. Not really a new gameplay mechanic, but enormous comic value.
We've seen this one already. Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory had these. If you stepped on the mine it would make a "sifff" sound. It would not explode until you stepped off it. Then you had to wait there and yell for an engineer to help you (if you weren't an engineer yourself).
The idea of these mines was that a covert ops could spot the mines with binoculars and then an engineer would walk there, step on the mine and then disarm it. The disarmable mines were a significant addition to the gameplay, but the fun value of stepping on one and waiting for an engineer to help was questionable.
And for my own contribution, a true ad-hoc weapon classic:
-A board with a nail. Yep, nothing beats a little bit of construction materials and a lot of bad will. A melee classic popularized by a cameo appearance on the Simpsons (some halloween episode).
-Riku
Here are a few weapons off the top of my head.
Temporal Phase Disruptor - displace an item or portions of an item in time
Molecular Decohesion Blaster - fires high intensity bursts of gamma rays, disintegrating target
Electron Polarity Magnifier - amplify magnetic properties of electrons causing the atoms of a target to collapse on themselves
Gravimetric Displacement Demodulator - sunders local gravitational pull causing everything in range to fly apart
Dark Energy Accelerator - extracts surrounding dark energy, concentrates and directs it at target

Hrmmm... Interesting ^^.
1) Magnetic Boots - Two uses. 1. Stick on to metal walls (Not very original). 2. Reverses the magnetic force to propel the user at an extremely high rate away from the wall. (Can possibly cause death.)
2) Gravitic Grenade - Creates a big field of gravity that slowly pulls the enemies in. Then, after a certain amount of time, explodes, dealing damage to everyone.
3) Gauntlet Gun - Load special types of bullets, (such as exploding bulelts) into the glove and punch something. Shoots the bullets on impact. May damage the user.
4) Quake Hammer - Can change the mass of this item with a touch of a button. Can go up to 200 tons, creating a small scale quake when hitting the ground, or a poor creature for that matter.
5) Phantom Blades - A blade with an invisible edge and a visible edge. The visible edge is a hologram while the invisible edge is made out of thin glass. Hopefully, the user will know where the real blade is and not kill himself. Good for confusing the enemy... or yourself...

Some more:
Backpack with hidden retractable arms - you got 5 guns, 2 hands and not enough firepower? Then, call your retractable arms and shoot down everyone with 5 guns at once!
External eyelense with infrared beam and laser attachment - red dot says, "Gotcha", red beam says "You're dead."
Paper sign with the words "Shoot Me" written on it - Why not get a good laugh in before you say goodbye?
Forearm protector with projectile grappling hook - Stuck between a hard place and a 1000 foot drop? Be Bond; use the grappling hook! Run outta bullets but gotta get sentryman that's 20 feet away? Can you say, "Come over here!"?
Pie - He should get one last meal before he wipes the crust from his eye and notice the muzzle between his eyes.

Bolas. A piece of rope with weighted ends which you either throw of launch from a projector of some kind. Tangles up your target and they have to spend a few seconds on the ground un-tangling themselves. Could be dangerous for flying enemies as a sudden fall to the ground is almost certain.
Jai-ali stick. Think small rocks aren't particularly dangerous? How about a small rock hitting you at over 120 miles per hour?
a were-shuriken. On a successful hit, it transforms into a wolf which already has its teeth sunk into you.
The clap.

One more munted idea with the focus on multiplayer:
Projectile Speaker - WTF is this you say? Use your microphone to record a short 5 second phrase (such as "behind ya!" or "say goodnight sucka"), then fire a speaker-containing-projectile which after embedding, proceeds to playback. I would make the sound tinny and lo-fi so players know its coming from the device and not regular team-speak. Comic value mostly, but slightly tactical if it makes your target react.

That is a very funny use for voice recording, and probably represents less demand on bandwidth than VoIP.
