I am currently working on a downhill combat racing game and am in charge of programming the camera system. The basics are all done, including soft attach, hard attach, and look at functions. Currently, we are using the soft attach algorithm for the camera during races. The problem with this is that whenever the racer takes a banked turn (or something of the like), soft attach causes the camera to also bank by rotating on the z-axis. Unfortunately, the transition between various degrees of banking is rough and sudden. I was wondering if there is a way to smoothly transition (rotate) between the differing banks of terrain. Currently, I was thinking of doing a hybrid camera that combines the turn to algorithm with soft attach, so that the camera will follow the racer, but only rotate on the x and y axes. Does anybody have any ideas on how I could go about this? Thanks in advance for your time. ~ Caboose_101

Nevermind, I figured it out. I'm using a look at/soft attach hybrid function. Now, when the slope angle changes, the camera looks at the racer until the soft attach sets the camera to the matching matrix, giving it an overall smoother look and feel.
