I kept getting this error main.cpp(110): error C3861: 'ilutOglLoadImage': identifier not found, even with argument-dependent lookup Since the header file knows about ilutGLLoadImage and not ilutOglLoadImage (even if that´s the function always used in the official sites tutorials and docs), i went that approach. And since this function seems to be fool proof i just use this code in my init function to get a texture loaded. ilutRenderer(ILUT_OPENGL); ilutGLLoadImage("mytex.bmp"); but the program crashes that way. As i understand it that´s the only code needed to get a texture laoded, but somehow i might be wrong. ;/ Does anyone know how to use the library correctly and would be so friendly to give me a hint how to solve this step please? thx

Of course it´s been a silly error ....

ilInit();
iluInit();
ilutRenderer(ILUT_OPENGL);
texture[0] = ilutGLLoadImage("mytex.bmp");

did the job, i´ve been to focused on function issue so i forgot to do a correct initialation
