Hey all, I'm in the process of figuring out how to determine what display modes users of my game can use. I'm looking for something akin to Display Properties with Screen Resolution and Color Quality. Is this information cached or accessible from somewhere? I'm aware of EnumDisplaySettings, but I have to do a bit of filtering to get the same results, and for some reason I'm missing 1 or 2 available display modes when I use this function (I followed the instructions on MSDN looping with iModeNum). Perhaps there's another way to query the display driver and get a list of available display modes? Thanks in advance.

Are you looking for DirectX specific answers?

Sorry, I should of mentioned, I'm on Windows using OpenGL at the moment. If you have a solution using DirectX I'd be happy to see it though. :-)

nehe.gamedev.net they have decent code to get you started. Works for me anyways.

Yeah, Nehe is a great resource. However, as far as I can tell, the tutorials on that site use EnumDisplaySettings as I was using.

I guess what I was getting at was how Windows does it internally for Display Properties, but my best guess is EnumDisplaySettings is probably used anyway. On another note, I had a dig around the registry but I couldn't find anything interesting stored there (except the current screen resolution).

Oh well. I'll stick with EnumDisplaySettings then. :-)
