Getting Server Memory State etc.

Hi, i´ve been wondering if there´re ways to get info about the gfx card´s memory consumption state. I´m about to code visualization for a mass growd simulation which will definately consume more texture space then available on the server. Is there a way to see how much space is used and/or how much is still available? Or are there any other states i can get? I chcked glGet* and didn´t find anything usefull. thx in advance Greetings, grey

what graphics card are you running on?
As there is an ATI only extension, in the Vista driver at least, which allows you to make queries...
