Does anyone know where I can find a good rim lighting shader? (.fx if possible).. Otherwise if anyone can tell me where i could find a good tutorial on writing my own then that would be great.. Thanks!

there was some power-point slides on the first Ruby demo no the ATI website.
Just check out the developer section of the website and I would type rim lighting into the search box there.

I tend to find that squatting over a mirror with a powerful torch lights my rim adequately.

Take a dot product of normal and eye vector. Clamp the negative side away. Raise to a power.

max(dot(V, N), 0.0) will do for start.
