I am at a point where I really need some art... What would be the best way to go about getting something decent. A bunch of test art would be fine, I just cant seem to find any 2:1 art on the web. http://reinerstileset.4players.de/ is a great site but everything is in a 4:3 perspective! arg! any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

I'm having the same problem here.
I'm looking for someone to make isometric tiles.

I'm not really sure where to look, and also, my funds are quite limited.
At the moment I'm using screenshots from Age of Empire :D

Any clues?

Do a Google search for IsoGen -- it's a great open-source utility program that will generate Isometric tiles using a square texture. It'll also generate wall and lighting effect tiles (e.g., torches on a wall, etc.).

Note, however, that it will NOT create objects such as trees, advanced building structures (windows, doors, roofs, etc.) and so on. It will only generate basic tiles for you.

Regardless, it's very effective for me right now as all I really need are the flat ground and basic walls and will hopefully get you started with your own basic tilesets.

EDIT:
Tried the google search myself and the results are different then I remember. So here's a direct link to the author's website: http://www.grinninglizard.com/kyra/isogen.htm

I've started playing with a program called World Creator. You can find it at http://www.inet2inet.com . The freeware version is nice, but I ended up buying the newest version because I turned out to really like it and all the extra features rock.

The freeware version will do iso floor and wall tiles based on textures you provide along with some basic objects based on multitexture masks(Im talking like arches, doorways, pillars, and similar things). It's also got the ability to apply bump masks to texture and tiles and has a way to do walls with some depth, but it's missing some really nice features of the bought software.
