Hi, I'm working on an engine and for lighting been using all glLight commands. However, I'm starting to wonder what is best: To keep using the gl support for lighting or replace that with shaders.

If you do both -- use glLight to set up the standard OpenGL lighting parameters, and write shaders which use those parameters -- then people with older hardware that doesn't support shaders will still be able to play your game with lighting effects without much more work on your part.
