I have 2 global variables I have to export everytime I open a console window so that the program I am using (Oracle) will work. ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID are the 2, and I was wondering if it is possible to set them up to be known when the system boots (basically just turn the computer on and go, not needing to export everytime). I am running RHEL4. Ive tried googling but cant seem to find anything to help. Thanks TS

Most shells allow you to do this. Look at the configuration file for your particular shell for this (or tell us which it is).
I found the file. Thanks a lot for the help.
