Hey Folks I'm coding a simple web crawler, and I want to programmatically download pages from the web that need login + password. The trouble is, I don't know how to find out which authentication method (digest, basic, or ..) some web pages use. Sometimes I just receive a status code of 200 (OK) but I get redirected to a form asking for login + pass (example : http://www.ocremix.org/forums/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=24) . I tried using BASIC auth, but it didn't work on sites like livejournal and ocremix. What's the mainstream auth method nowadays? Any pointers on how I should handle this? Thanks
