screen size?

First post here, yes its a noobish one too. I was just wondering what screen size i should make my game in, it would be my first and it will not be that big, i was thinking either 640x480 or 800x600? What do you think would be best?

640x480 is standard for most small games, or for many games this is the standard smallest size when not full screen.

That's my opinion.

Well in all reality it doesn't matter what size you choose(as long as it is reasonable) You should provide functionality to change the screensize ie resize go fullscreen etc. It can be done without too much work :-) Standard i'd say is 640 x 480 ... i prefer 800 x 600 though :-)

Thanks both of you, i think for the first one it will be better for me to use the smaller one in that case, should i become good at making these little games i will up the size in the future :)
