Directx has the famous function D3DXMatrixShadow(), but I think this is not the best method, moreover, the terrain contains static objects which I think there is no need to calculate its shadow every frame. I don't know if billboards should help??? Please guys tell me the best way to render 3D shadows on a landscape for static and dynamic objects... Thanks in advance

Or maybe using a shadow map blended with the terrain texture, ofcourse this is for static objects, but for the dynamic ones I don't have any idea :)
