I have a very large directx project (80k lines) which I have been developing using VC6.0. The project uses MFC. I naively installed latest directx SDK because I was missing the debug version in my previously installed SDK. Now I understand that the latest SDK is not compatible with VC6.0. So I looked into the upgrading to the free VC express but now I learn that there are issues with MFC. So I am looking for advice on which direction to go. Does anyone know how to build MFC using VC express? thanks, steve coward

There's no way to use MFC with VS Express unfortunately.

I was reading awhile back about some guy who was hacking the 64-bit version of MFC which ships with the Platform SDK so it could be compiled with Visual Studio Express (32bit only), but don't bother going there, it'll be more trouble than it's worth and the guys gone awol anyway.

My only suggestion would be to roll back to the previous DX SDK :(, or pay the license to upgrade to full VS8.0. Is there particular features of the newest SDK you need?
