Here is the 1.1 version. There isn't too much that is different between that matters, in general; most of the different stuff is related to things being promoted to the core API, and or various other out of the way bits of functionality.

The rest of the online docs on the GL website are usually pretty sufficient to make up for gaps.
what about a pdf version of the book available somehwre on the net? the idea is that move alot and hard copies of a bunch of heavy books is not practical...
We are in electronic age ppl, come on...byebye to hardcopies...we should start using iBook instead of iPod
Yes, we are in the electronic age. So learn to use it. 2 seconds of searching found this. Just as an FYI, 1.1 is, as far as I know the newest version of the redbook. But then again it's all you should need as its just to get you started, everything else is in the specifications.

Thanks for the link. But it's only upto 1.1 which's still far away behind 2.1. Even the specification is...a specification, i could not even find the filling convention for triangles where it's supposed to be in the specification.
Anyway I think a hardcopy is a must have.
The newest print version of the redbook I could find was 1.2, which I own. The PDF I linked too is nearly identical. It's your wasted money and I have no problem with the specification, not sure what you're talking about. Best of luck.

I don't think that 2.1 is available electronically; in the past, they've only made e-versions available well after initial publication. Amazon's your best bet.

Oh, and Mike, there is quite a lot that has changed in the redbook since 1.2.
@Sneftel: Umm... I was talking about the difference between 1.1 and 1.2. I know a lot has changed since it. Thanks though.

The copy I can find online, http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0321335732/khongrou-20 states in the write up that, "this book offers understandable tutorials and lessons on getting up to speed and getting the most out of the latest version of OpenGL, version 1.2."

I tend to just use the online documentation from: http://www.opengl.org/sdk/docs/man/

Sorry, normally linkify things but watching a movie.

You should really read the whole section. It ends with "...--This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title."
webspider + http://www.opengl.org/sdk/docs/man/

worked for me
