I'm trying to start an FMV game project that can be played on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Yes, an FMV game. Don't laugh at me. Anyway, I'm wondering if SDL is the right solution for me. I plan to shoot High Definition video, and I hear SDL can only play MPEG-1, which is pretty awful quality. So, I ask of ye all: - Is there another cross-platform library that can play MPEG-2 or 4? - If SDL is my best bet, how do I need to export my video and what special libraries do I need to download? Get as technical as you want with me, as I'll be passing this all on to my programmer (I'm just the designer/director) who knows this stuff. xD
