Good Java Books?
Hi everyone out there!
I was wondering if you could suggest some good java books for beginners.
This isn't exactly a specific recommendation, but I find the reviews on Amazon.com to be quite reliable for technical books.
Also, you probably want to be specific about which particular version of Java you're looking for. I assume its J2SE.

I used Object-Oriented Programming With Java: An Introduction by David Barnes at university. I really like the approach he uses, by showing you Object-Oriented programming first, which helps you a lot programming-style wise. It also has a lot of exercises and review questions per chapter.
Do download the source files at the site though ;).

Java Reference by Herbert Schildt
It thoroughly covers the basics of Java as well as some of the important packages like Math, Graphics, Applets, Networking...

While I didn't really study them that hard, I though that the Sun Java Tutorials were pretty good. They teach you every thing you need to know about OOP and Java. They even have tutorials on advanced stuff like networking. Plus it's 100% free.
