SDL inactive window

I'm using OpenAL to play sounds. When I move the screen or downsize another window or something of that nature, the sound gets all screwed up and starts skipping. Is there a way to fix this easily? Could I just do something with the appinactive event to make pause the game loop? Would that fix the problem? If not, has anyone ever had this problem and knows of a way to fix it? Thank you.

Well that is great, but I'm using OpenAL. Has anyone ever had this problem before? Does anyone know how to fix it? I think I could fix it by disabling all OpenAL functions when the window is out of focus, but I'm not sure.
