DX8 with Dev C++

Recommended Posts

I am using Bloodshed Software''s Dev C++ as my Windows C++ compiler. All the tutorials only describe how to setup DX on Visual C++. How do I set it up under Dev C++? Are there any general rules for setting up the API? You''''re just jealous because the voices are talking to me!

Somehow you''ll need to get libraries for DevC++ (as oppossed to libraries for Visual C++, which are not compatible with other compilers). The headers for one should work in the other though.

You can get some DX8 libraries here http://sites.netscape.net/ptrpck/directx.htm

Yeah, just get the import libraries from the link posted by our mystery guest above, and you''ll be ready to go. The SDK header files work fine (although, if I remember, you have to declare a UINT_PTR type in dinput.h).

Also, you can''t use D3DX with Dev-c++. (I know someone wrote a wrapper for the Borland compiler - but for Dev..I dunno).
