Hello, I notice that a few people here at gamedev use a 2d graphics utility known as "GIMP". I am using MS Paint at the moment for my .bmp''s, and I am needing something that will run through bitmaps in a sequence, to help with animation. If I am only using .bmp''s is there any good reason to download GIMP ? El Duderino

Yup, the Gimp is a really cool graphics editor that has a lot of features that paint lacks.
You can use layers to do your animation frames.
There are loads of filters for blurring, bumpmapping and other stuff.
For bitmaps, I use lots of transparent layers to test ideas out and then collapse them into one bitmap to save.
Basically, once you have learnt to use it - and you will need to read some tutorials - it is really handy for making good looking graphics.

GIMP isn''t as good as Photoshop 6.0 but it''s *really* good and way better than this crappy Paint.
Does anyone know where to get GIMP for windows?
