I have Quake3 Arena installed but can''t find any *.bsp files. I have a large *.pak file, I assume they are in there. How to I extract them?

you can rename the .pak file to .zip and just open it with winZip or some other appp like it!!

Ok now I can see the *.bsp files!!!!
How do I know which textures to extract with the bsp? Does the bsp contain the texture? Do I have to unzip the whole 400megs of data into a directory?

You will need to unzip all the goodies from the zip/pak file .. I use pakscape it makes it easier, its a friendlier unpacker/packer. If you are trying to view the Q3 levels .. unpack the baseq/pak.0 into baseq, move your map one level up from the maps dir, same place as the converter. Then execute the PR converter and run it on your map under Quake3\baseq\PRconverter.exe q3map.bsp. You should then see a q3map.pbs and \leveltextures directory where you ran the converter. Move these over to your PR lstudio bin folder and follow the directions on loading packages for Lstudio.
