I was wondering if anyone knows where to find a open source 1st Person 3D Engine. I have looked and looked, but all I find is stuff for Visual Basic. If not a source code, would anyone know where to find a VERY good tutorial, with walkthroughs/examples. I am from VB and im trying to move to C++. But im having a bit of trouble understanding the tutorials with out any examples. Well I hope someone can help me. I really want to get started on this, yet I don''t know where? Thanks guys

Genesis3D is a open source 3D Engine (www.genesis3d.com). But it is a very ambiguous project and thus probably hard to understand...
There is a little DX8 program that shows some very basics of 3D programming at www.chronocross.de. It doesnt show much but is very simple.
If you find nothing else, go to gamasutra.com or flipcode.com there should be some tutorials/sample codes.
Try http://cg.cs.tu-berlin.de/~ki/engines.html for a good
link list to 3D engines.

There is at least one hidden somewhere in here : http://www.planet-source-code.com/
ftp.idsoftware.com :D
Youll find the source code to Wolf3D, Doom, and Quake.

Thanks everyone. All the post were in some way very helpful.
