Simple texturemapping problem??

Helpppppp me please.. Well how do I start, ok here''s the problem. You have got a cube in a single mesh, but how can I map different textures from different files onto each faces? say 6 files..1 for each face? WITHOUT using cube map thing from Opengl or Direct3D... I just wanna make a landscape with different tiles from many small .bmp files. I''m using Direct3D8 at a moment. What technique should I be using?? Have anyone got any idea? Thanks for your help
