How about a webcam and/or mic enabled MMO game for little kids? Has anyone done one of these before? They could play several simple games together that teach skills such as reading and writing (typing) in a cooperative and/or competitive environment. Also throw in the old gaming staples in a multiplayer version with an educational theme? It would have to be really, really simple so little kids could use it. Most of the interaction would be kids telling other kids over a mic how to do the neat things in the game world. Further details upon request. :)

Secondly, you would never get subscribers with a webcam or mic enable game for kids. I know parents who worry about their kids using PictoChat on a Nintendo DS let alone the idea that, on the internet, the kid is able to see and be seen by thousands of people.

But otherwise an MMO for kids is a pretty cool idea.

Dang, someone beat me to it! Oh well, MY kids MMO would have reading/writing/arithmetic skill building. Sort of like reader rabbit but with a multiplayer feel.

As for the webcams and overprotective parents - yeah, that's a good point. I'm just worried that young kids might not be the best typers. Do you think parents would go for a mic? And possibly a voice-activated game, for the 2-5 age range. At the very least a mouse-controlled game with an INN style layout...click on the map to go to a place, then click on a picture of the place to play a game...then there's the automatic matchmaker that automatically matches you with a buddy, and you both try to spell words that are spoken out the speakers. Together. :) You can see what your buddy is typing, and help out until you've both spelled the word right! Or a competitive mode, where you compete to see who can type in the word faster.
