I'm a little stumped about how I am going to go about display the planet below in my Starfox/Starwars ship fighter game. I was thinking some kinda procedural technique would suffice but I'm confused. Any previous techniques used in a game like this would be wonderful, thanks.

As in, a basic 3D 'mountainscape' to display below the ship? Something like a perlin noise generator treated as a heightmap should be a reasonable start.
