Hi, I've been thinking about my next step in programming and when I'm done with my current projects, I would like to try out a 2D game similar to the classic King's Bounty game, with almost the same graphical simplicity and maybe a little more depth in the RPG and combat part. I haven't aquired much graphical knowledge yet and I kinda wondered if I could make a 2D terrain with the map making software of Warcraft 3 and import that as a game world in my project? This would probably look a lot neater than whatever I can mix up in mspaint or the likes myself! If the map making software in WC3 is propritary and unusable with anything other than Warcraft 3, do you know of any other map making editors that I could use? UPDATE:

There are plenty of generic editors you could use. It's just a matter of getting some appropriate graphics to use as tiles.

As for borrowing graphics from commercial games...don't. Spend some time with Google to find a free tileset like this.
Wow, that link had awesome tiles, thanks!
