I'm getting errors when I try to compile the following Hello World program! Pathetic!
// Hello World
// A first C++ program

#include <iostream>

int main()
    std::cout << "Hello World!" << std::endl;
    return 0;

I get this error: Circular hello_world <- hello_world.o dependency dropped. What am I doing wrong?

Your code looks fine. I can't really offer any advice on how to configure Dev-C++ correctly, but I can advise you to drop it entirely. Dev-C++ is horribly outdated and no longer being updated. Visual Studio 2005 Express is the (free) IDE that gets recommended most around here, with good reason. Other alternatives are Code::Blocks or wxDev-C++. I think you'd be helping yourself by getting a more up-to-date compiler and IDE.
