Ok, I'm trying to get the Microsoft Platform SDK to work with VC 2005 express edition. Here is the link to the steps I am following. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/express/aa700755.aspx I am having problems with step 4, which reads: Step 4: Update the corewin_express.vsprops file. One more step is needed to make the Win32 template work in Visual C++ Express. You need to edit the corewin_express.vsprops file (found in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC\VCProjectDefaults) and Change the string that reads: AdditionalDependencies="kernel32.lib" to AdditionalDependencies="kernel32.lib user32.lib gdi32.lib winspool.lib comdlg32.lib advapi32.lib shell32.lib ole32.lib oleaut32.lib uuid.lib" Ok, all the steps up to #4 have gone smoothly. But when I try to edit the corewin_express file, I get this message: Cannot create the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC\VCProjectDefaults\corewin_express.vsprops file. Make sure that the path and file name are correct. So now I am stumped.. what should I do? Any advice would be helpful... thanks!

Hi,

I have had the same problem.

Try the following:
1) Copy the file to the desktop.
2) Edit it there.
3) Copy it back (and overwrite the original file).
