here's some HTML that I have: <object type="text/html" data="object.php"> <param name="message" value="hi" /> <param name="$message" value="hia" /> </object> and object.php: <?php echo $message; echo $_message; echo $_GET['message']; echo $_POST['message']; echp "test"; ?> I don't get either "hi" or "hia", but I get "test". Does anyone know how to retrieve the parameters from <param>? I'm pretty sure it's not in GET or POST. If there's no way, then I'm fine with just using data="object.php?message=hi" (for now).

I thought such params were only fed to the resulting client side object, not to the server it requests the object from?

If you're just trying to send data to a remote page, that's what query strings or forms are for.

I don't think those parameters are intended for server-side use - I'm pretty sure the server can't retrieve them in any way.

You might be able to get it from javascript, but in any case, just use the query string instead as others have noted.
