Quick question about functions...

No. It just means they both map values from a set A to a set B. To be identical, they have to provide the exact same mapping.

For example:

f(x) = x
g(x) = x + 1

Here the functions have the same domain (all real numbers), and range (again all real numbers). But they are clearly not identical.
