Hello, and thank you for taking your time to read this. I am currently having a few questions regarding DirectX, .x meshes and the 3D tool Maya. My following questions are as follows: Question 1: How would I make a .x mesh glow in my DirectX application? I am using C#. Question 2: How do I add transparency to a .x mesh? Question 3: How would I draw a selection box with the mouse in my application using the DirectX API? Question 4: I am now using Maya 2008, and I am looking for a .x file exporter. Is there one such plug-in or tool available to do this? Thank you... TS

1. with a 'bloom' or 'glow' shader.

2. set the alpha component of the meshes material.diffuse.
i.e. m_material.Diffuse = Color.FromArgb(Alpha, r, g, b);
You'll have to enable alpha blending and set some blending modes.
(do a search for alpha blending)

3. you could use the Direct3D.Line class, or make your own, or just draw a semi-transparent quad using CustomVertex.TransformedColored or similar.

4. dunno, i use Max, but heres a linky.
