Brainstorm: 2D Physics Puzzles

Hey all, I'm picturing a 2d platformer with more advanced physics and I'm struggling to come up with fun, reasonable puzzle ideas. Limiting the view to side-on also seems to limit the variety of puzzles. It seems to come down to two major varieties: 1. Build a bridge / staircase / gigantic hill of blocks to circumvent an obstacle. 2. Destroy a large obstacle by destroying it's weaker points so the rest of it collapses. Anyone have any ideas jump out at them? It seems that limiting myself to just these two would make for one extremely boring game.

Hmm,

- Ninja Rope/Grapple swinging
- See-saw balancing
- rolling objects down hills timed to clog up some gears
- see-saw jumping or aiming objects at targets
- using blowers, as in blowing objects around
- filling up liquid tanks to overflow into others (or some sort of tip-bucket)
- using objects to fill up the tanks (e.g. put a load of bricks in causing overflow)
- crane operation (to move heavy blocks)
- skateboarding (2d half-pipe type jumps or loops)
- setup some crazy TIM like contraption to push a cat through a flap or something
- laying platforms for moving over lava or similar
- low/high gravity or different directional

What kind of setting? Might be more inspiration with a bit more detail.

Go rent or buy DVD box sets of MacGyver.
