I would suggest you decouple your hosting from your domain registrar. The packages that offer 2 in 1 generally suck badly :P.

I'd get web hosting with someone like: GatorHost.com and google for a good European domain registrar. When finished with both purchases, point your Name Servers (NS) settings to the webhost's servers (the will guide you through it).

Best of luck.

Karan Bhangui is right, you can get a .eu domain at www.eurodns.com for €18 (There might be other registrars that are cheaper, look around a bit before deciding on one).

This way you can also be 100% sure that you are the owner of your domain (some webhosts will register the domain in their own name and refuse to let you keep it if you switch host, or charge you alot of money for transfering the domain).

You also need to remember that some registrars won't offer dns hosting, or will charge you extra for it, (eurodns has free dns hosting afaik).

Services such as www.zoneedit.com can be used if you need a cheap/free) dns host (it might pay off to use a cheaper registrar along with a free dns host for private domains). (zoneedit also supports dynamic ips by using a small program(avaliable for Win/Mac/*Nix aswell as PERL and Java) that sends the new ip to their servers whenever it changes)
