3ds Max Face Map and Render To Texture

Hi, I have an unwrapped 3ds Max model and a diffuse texture. What I'd like to do is to take a second texture with 'Face Map' selected so that it is applied to each quad in my model, and then render-to-texture but using the original unwrapped uvs. Does that make sense? So if my Face-Mapped texture was a simple red cross, the final result would be a texture that has a red-cross for each quad unwrapped using the original uv coordinates. Thanks, Benny

Well, you can apply your facemap texture on map channel #2 so that you don't mess your UVW's on channel #1. You should do this by applying an UVW map modifier on your mesh, set to channel 2, and set type to 'facemap'. What you should NOT do is to use the 'faceted' attribute in the material editor. After setting up your UVW map modifier, make sure taht in the material editor, the map you use is on channel #2.

Now you can render to texture, using the UVW's on channel #1.
Bye now. Must go and listen to some heavy metal.
