Advice on my first Python game - Hunt the Wumpus

I've finished my first little game in Python - a version of Hunt the Wumpus. I think it works from my testing. What I'm not sure about is general good Python programming skills. I tended to use one big function for the game, which is a bit ugly. I've also used a class in there that makes things a bit strange with "self" everywhere; I'm debating whether passing a tuple with state information may be better? I'd like any suggestions on what I could do to make this code nicer, or how to "think like a Python programmer", so I can put that into practice on my next little project.
