DirectX 10 Enumeration

Hiya, I know device enumeration is supposed to be unnecessary in DirectX 10, but what about checking what display resolutions are available? I can't see anything in the documentation about this - are there a set number of resolutions guaranteed to be supported? How does an application know whether it needs to use a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio? Many thanks for any help! [smile]
