Hiya, I've been writing a wave file reader, and I have a question I was hoping someone can help with. I believe it's legal to have multiple format and data chunks in a single file - is this a common occurence, in 'real' wave files? How are they supposed to be treated - is it acceptable to just use the first data chunk and ignore the rest? Should they be combined, somehow? Many thanks for any help!

I've never really considered this. Every wave file reader I've written just grabs the first format and data chunks. You could try creating a wave file from two separate wave file format and data chunks and giving it to apps like windows media player to see what it does. My guess is that it'll just grab the first format and data chunks. Or it'll say the file isn't valid...
