I use several textures in my pixel shader, all of which must be sampled using the same sampler states. Is advisable to use the same sampler for all of them, or should I create as many sampler as I have textures? Could there be a theoretical performance issue with either choice? Thank you JA

I wouldn't worry about this sort of thing. Chances are its re-mapped by the GPU's driver anyway. This sort of micro-optimization isn't hard to change around should profiling reveal it to be a bottleneck.

D3D10 decoupled the sampler from the texture so you can create more concise and maintainable HLSL code, so you may as well use the feature [smile]
