XInput help

Is it possible to use XInput to read mouse and keyboard or is it just more of an add-on to DirectInput. If so, can XInput return the absolute position of the mouse in terms of the screen coordinates? Thanks.

XInput is only for using xbox 360 peripherals on the pc. It wont do mouse or any other types of joypads.

Use Direct Input for other types of joypads/joysticks.

use the win 32 messages for keyboard and mouse. Have a look at this thread for more info on why not to use DirectInput for those

The directx documentation that came with the SDK you have should have a pretty good introduction to setting up and using XInput. Should be pretty easy :)
