Multiple contact notifications for same objects in newton in a physics run?

Hi all, I´m using newton dynamics as my physics engine. Is it ussual to have more than one object collision notifiation per physics run?. I have a barrel that is hit by a bullet. I substract some energy from the barrel when I detect collision, but I hget 3 collisions per physics run, so the barrel dies before it should. Any tip or confirmation?. Thanks in advance, HexDump.
