OpenGL POT & NPOT texture

NPOT is only available from OpenGL 2 and above. Some implementations may still have some restrictions attached to NPOTS (like no mipmaps, only clamp, no repeat etc.) and fall to software mode if required. You would have to look for the appropriate externsion string in GL_EXTENSIONS to verify it is fully hardware accelerated.

POT texutures have the size restriced to powers of two but are supported since OpenGL 1.0. POT textures are also potentially faster that NPOT textures.

Working with POT and NPOT textures is mostly the same though.
