This may seem obvious, but press F1. The tutorials that come packed with 3ds max are the best around, short of some video tutorials you'll find. Lynda.com is particularly a good place for beginner 3ds max video tutorials, and for animation. Its also a great place for any type of software really, highly recommend it.

I pressed F1 and I clicked The help tab and and clicked Tutorials.
The busy Icon came up and then nothing.

You may have to manually go to it. Go to your 3ds max folder, then find the help folder, and all help files should be there.

I know 3Ds Max 8. The major difference between Max 7 and Max 8 is pelt mapping (a method of UV mapping for organic models), the rest is pretty much the same. So if you have a question, there is a chance I can help you.

This might seem kinda simple, but go to google and type in "3ds max tutorials." Chances are most of the sites that come up first are pretty useful.

Nearly all tutorial sites have a Beginner section that can get you going in no time. Here's a few good places to start...

http://www.tutorialized.com/
http://www.3dstudiomaxtutorials.com/

Alright, it's only two, but they're both good.

Cheerio.
