glHint : is this function still used on modern implementations?

Hi there! Does glHint have any functionalty on modern implementations, or it can be completely ignored?

a hint doesnt have to be obeyed by the driver
so theyre best not relyed upon as the results perhaps will be different across platforms/cards/drivers even

It's possible that it still has some tiny effects on certain cards, but I wouldn't bother with it. Any state worth setting is already exposed either directly or through extensions.

For nVidia's, you could use glHint to control the AA quality. It chooses between a standard AA and quincux (or however that is written) but I don't know if has any effect of Gf 60, 70 or 80.
