Hey, I was wondering how often Houdini is used in Game Development compared to 3ds max and any other programs. And if it is even possible to use it for game development. Thanks for the help.

Why would it not be possible to use it for game development?

In answer to your first question, no, it is not used very often in game development. Houdini is unique in its entirely procedural design, but that doesn't really help with game development really. Max, Maya, and XSI (more so the first two) are used much more often because of their polygonal modeling, rigging, and animating strengths.

I have never heard of it being used with games so I was really surprised when the torque announcement was made. I haven't actually tried Houdini, as I have a mac and they don't support the platform. It looks like it could be used for procedurally generated levels even if the modeling tools make low poly work hard.
