Easy to get into, low level work done for you. Plenty of tools/help
2) OpenGL/Direct3D
Harder(much harder) to get into, low level, difficult to optimise if you don't understand the hardware or know what you are doing. You are going to write alot of code yourself.
3) GamerMaker, 3DStudio
Authoring tools, drag and drop, very easy to get into, usually limited in flexibility and performance.
