DirectX 10 Enumeration

Hiya, With DirectX9, I created an IDirect3D9 interface and then enumerated the device capabilities and resolutions available. I like that there are no CAPS bits any more, but how are we supposed to detect the screen resolutions we can use? For example, whether it's best to use 1280x1024 (4:3) or 1440x900 (widescreen)? I've looked through the MSDN documentation and the D3D10 samples, but they don't mention anything about this. I'm probably missing something obvious here, but any help is much appreciated!
