Ok... i want to assemble a toolkit ... so.. so far i have: Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition - programming GIMP - 2d graphics and... i'm looking for a good 3d modelling program with lots of support... as little bugs as possible... fairly not as hard to use as blender... and... free and what else do i need? thanx

Modelling - Maya Personal Learning edition or Milkshape, you could also try DeleD which is an easy to use modelling tool, although mostly used for world creation as opposed to modelling characters.

Your need a graphics engine, if your using Visual Studio then go for TrueVision3D as it's available for free and you can use languages such as Delphi, C++, C#, VB.NET, BlitzMax... so plenty to choose from.

You could always use a shader tool such as FX Composer from Nvidia or RenderMonkey.
