# Simple Rpg Questions

I have some questions about rpg's, How would i find the math for drop ratio from monsters, also the damage calculations?

You make them up. So basic math skills and reasoning are required here.

You invent an algorithm, then play with sample numbers, record results, and use them if you're satisfied.

Are you talking about making your own RPG, or how to analyse an existing RPG?

Hey, that's half the fun! Making equations that give you your numbers. It is so satisfying! But hey! It could just be me!

If you want some advice, I've found that working backwards helps.

Start with how much damage you want inflicted on the player per enemy hit.
Then find out how many of those hits you want before the player is dead.
Then you have your player's hp.

Decide how much damage you want inflicted on the enemy per player hit.
Then decide a number of those hits you want before the enemy is dead.
Then you have your enemy's hp.

Decide a nice number to go with the player's hp for his/her attack power.
Decide a number (doesn't have to be nice if the player can't find out about its defense) in such a way that the player's attack and its defense result in the damage you previously picked out...

And etc.
